Dorsopathy

Dorsopathy includes a group of diseases. Their distinctive feature is backbone lesion. Different types of dorsopathy can be combined.

Deforming dorsopathy is a state with vertebrae displacement and changes of intervertebral disks. Osteochondrosis, spondylolisthesis (vertebrae displacement), lateral and front – back deformations of backbone (scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis) refer to such dorsopathy.

Vertebrogenous dorsopathy is caused by changes of vertebrae. Injuries, infections (tuberculosis, syphilis, osteomyelitis), Bekhterev’s illness become the cause.

The processes proceeding with displacement of intervertebral disk and rupture of its ligaments – hernial diverticulum, refer to disco genic dorsopathy.

Remissions and recurrences are inherent to chronic course. Illnesses of cardiovascular system, diabetes mellitus, obesity, excessive physical activity and infections refer to risk factors.

The first what patient feels is a pain syndrome. Pain begins from the backbone and extends along nerves. At a cervical dorsopathy pain from the neck goes to shoulders and arms. Sensitivity and volume of movements decreases. Blood inflow to brain along vertebral artery is broken, and there is a headache, giddiness, nausea.

The thoracic dorsopathy develops in patients who move a little. Pain is localized in back and breast, is followed by heartbeat.

The lumbar dorsopathy is followed by the pain in loins extends to feet, walking disturbance.

The patient has to exclude exercise stresses. At severe pains orthopedic devices, such as: cervical collar, orthosis, corsets should be worn. Physiotherapy is used.
